For some people vacations may look like long lazy days by the water and for others it may mean hiking huge mountains. No matter where on the spectrum you fall, chances are you’ll be looking for something to remember your time away from home by. Thankfully, Camana Bay has you covered on that front. The Town Centre at Camana Bay celebrates local businesses and crafts and gives visitors to Grand Cayman a great way to get an authentic introduction to the Cayman Islands as a country, rather than just a tourist destination. Here are a few Grand Cayman shopping (http://www.camanabay.com/the-town/shopping-grand-cayman/) experiences to check out in Camana Bay:
“All about Local” Guide:
Perhaps the best place to begin as you start your souvenir hunt is the “All about Local” guide that is available (for free!) from Camana Bay’s Discovery Centre. This guide will give you all the information you need about local products such as Cayman scents and candles, local artists and other local gems that are currently being sold in Camana Bay shops. You’re all but guaranteed to walk away from the Camana Bay shops with a unique and meaningful souvenir of your time in Grand Cayman.
Farmers & Artisans Market:
Wednesdays are a big day on Grand Cayman. Right around noon, a big farmer’s market opens and locals and guests alike are welcome to come and explore everything they have to offer. Growers have their local fare on hand so you can try some of the most popular fruits and flavors on island in addition to fresh flowers and more fresh produce. There are also local artists and artisans who will have booths set up with their specialty pieces, handcrafted jewelry and more. Be sure to stick around until 3pm, when you can watch local entertainment such as live music, artists creating in real time, and other cultural demonstrations.
Finally, a trip to Grand Cayman isn’t complete without checking out the wide variety of shops that Camana Bay boasts. Stop by Island Company to choose resort wear or accessories bearing their wanderlust-inspired motto, “Quit your job. Buy a ticket. Get a tan. Fall in love. Never return.” Or swing by The Mansion (http://www.islandcompaniesltd.com/store/mansion/), an Island Company flagship store that sells duty-free jewelry and watches. Also, be sure to visit the first International Lilly Pulitzer shop, called The Cabana, and stock up on their brightly colored and chic resort wear. Camana Bay offers over 20 different shops to satisfy your shopping needs.
